Brazil food at Fiesta Brasilia

Situated at United Square, one can locate Fiesta Brasilia hidden at
the corner on the basement level beside Brauhaus Restaurant & Pub and
McDonalds.
We chanced by this place on a Saturday afternoon and decided to give
it a try. We started with soup of the day with garlic bread followed
by a meat platter comprising of sausages, roast chicken, lamb, beef.
It was tender and done just right. Sausages was my favorite with a
hint of mustard. As they were having a 1 for 1 deal and we could
believe that that total bill was only $21 for both of us!

Video Games Live

What is VGL (Video Games LIVE), simply put, it's an orchestra
dedicated to video gamers. Went there after CG Overdrive to see the
Cosplayers in action. I must say that they were not very impressive.
;) Great performace by NUS, and particulary enjoyed Mario, Chrono
Trigger, Diablo 3 soundtrack and the pianist Martin Leung. He managed
to play mario bros blindfolded!

One thing I a bit disappointing the orchestra doesn’t have a proper
live drummer – they’ve got a couple of percussionists, including a
rather bored looked timpani players, but they don’t have anyone just
playing a drum kit. Instead the drum track is pre-recorded and the
orchestra just play along to this. It really dampened the atmosphere,
if the entire point of the event is to show that the music and
emotions in gaming isn’t artificial then why not shell out for a
proper drummer?

Anyway, the performance was a very enjoyable one. You can check out

Sentosa

Went on a visit to Sentosa with my wife and fascinated by the quick
development of the Resort World Universal Studios. They look really
busy and are working round the clock! Can't wait for it to be open in
2010. In the meantime, here's the attractions that you can expect.

Also tried the Skyride and Luge. The Skyride was higher than what I
expected (pretty scary if you have phobia of heights). but the Luge
was really fun!

Lasalle Opening Ceremony

Attended the opening of Lasalle College of the Arts. Minister for
Education Dr Ng Eng Hen was Guest of Honour at the ceremony. I must
say that the building looks even more impressive at night! After the
opening ceremony, there was an international buffet spread and
something cool during the buffet was that they projected videos of
students' works on the canvas roof of the building. (check out one of
the pics)

Windows vs Apple

I've been a user of the Windows mobile platform since 2002, but had to
try out the iPhone as to see what the hype is all about. After using
it for a month. I knew why. It was the applications. The App store was
really addictive in that I download a few every night, and the most I
had was 7 pages of apps, mostly free. There's no install or cables
needed. Just click on the program in the app store and the new icon
pops up on your iphone. Response and speed was also superior than the
Windows mobile platform. The applications were also much more
innovative. The one that struck me was this

There's some quirks and shortcomings about the iphone which makes it
being the perfect phone mainly :
1) there's no real time GPS with turn by turn instructions at the moment.
2) No VIDEO recording yet :(
3) No MMS - untill 3.0 firmware is released.
4)Cut 'n' Paste is not implemented yet.

Overall Apple as done a very good job on iphone (Its first smart phone
attempt), and I know its next version would fill the missing gaps. So
in the meantime, I'll carry these 2 phones.

Stressed...so went on a eating spree ;)

The first dish was at Tomato Express. Had Salmon and Grilled pork chop
with sausages. Never expected it to be that good as the name of the
place sounded like the food is those heat and eat kind. We were
pleasantly surprised by the quality and I'll definitely comeback at
again. Price is reasonable about $10 for a main dish.

2nd dish was at Clarity Cafe at Purvis street. One of my fav place to
eat, and this time had the Pork combo with Risotto and Grilled Salmon
both were very good. Since we had the premiere set, the total of both
dishes were only $28.80
